A large rotating mirrored ball which projects hundreds of razor thin beams of light around a room when a spotlight is aimed at its surface.

Also called mirror ball.

dice


n.

Small cube with 1 to 6 spots on the faces, used to generate random numbers. This makes dice suitable as gambling devices.

n.

An object that is surrounded by a magnetic field and that has the property, either natural or induced, of attracting iron or steel.

creel


n.

A type of small wicker or osier basket, especially one used by anglers for carrying fish.

It is mostly used as a fisherman's basket, holding fish or other seafood catches such as mollusks or crustaceans.

bridle

Part of a horse's harness that goes on its head, including the metal bit for the mouth, the straps and the reins.

hangman's noose


n.

The hangman's noose or knot is used by a hangman to execute persons who have been condemned to death by hanging.

The noose is a a loop formed in a rope by means of a slipknot so that it binds tighter as the rope is pulled.

A variation of this knot is used in fishing and is called the Uni-knot.

wrist band

A band of material worn round the wrist to strengthen or protect it or as an ornament.

seesaw

The act or game of riding a seesaw.

Seesaw is a long plank balanced on a central fulcrum so that with a person riding on each end, one end goes up as the other goes down.

ewaste

Electronic waste. Discarded computers, monitors, mobile phones and other electronic equipment.

Also: eWaste, e-waste or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Ewaste is a waste type consisting of any broken or unwanted electrical or electronic appliance. It is a point of concern considering that many components of such equipment are considered toxic and are not biodegradable.

Small pieces or streamers of colored paper that are scattered around during the course of festive occasions.

Confetti is made up of small pieces of paper or plastic which are usually thrown at celebrations, such as a wedding.

The English word "confetti" is related to the Italian sweet of the same name. Italian confetti are almonds with a hard sugar coating.

eg.

More than 1 million revelers in Times Square greeted 2007 with cheers, kisses and a whopping 3.5 tons of confetti at the city's massive New Year's Eve party.

chopsticks

Oriental tableware consisting of a pair of sticks used to eat food with.

Chopsticks, invented in China, are the traditional eating utensils of East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, the four "chopstick countries").

Chopsticks are commonly made of wood, bamboo and in modern times, plastic as well.

headstone

A stone that is used to mark a grave.

It is a permanent marker, normally carved from stone, placed over or next to the site of a burial in a cemetery or elsewhere.

Originally, a tombstone was the stone lid of a stone coffin, or the coffin itself, and a gravestone was the stone slab that was laid over a grave. Now all three terms are also used for markers placed at the head of the grave.

1. Any of a class of powerful explosives composed of nitroglycerin or ammonium nitrate dispersed in an absorbent medium with a combustible dope, such as wood pulp, and an antacid, such as calcium carbonate, used in blasting and mining.

bunk bed


n.

A type of multiple bed in which one bed is stacked on top of another. It is used to save space in crowded quarters, typically as furnishings in children's rooms, ships, trains, garrisons or university residence hall bedrooms allowing two people to sleep in the same room while maximizing available floor space.

The top bed normally is surrounded by a railing to prevent the sleeper from falling out.
